Last week, the LIFE+ARCOS monitoring team visited the actions developed in sites A1-Barayo (Navia & Luarca) and A3-Playa de Vega (Ribadesella), in Asturias.
Life+ARCOS General meeting prior to the Mid-term report submit, hosted in the INDUROT headquarters in Mieres, Aturias.
The morning and afternoon sessions just ended. Members from the General Assembly of the Life+ARCOS @Lifeprogramme project were in attendance, alongside all beneficiary members of the project as well as its coordinating partner, the University of Oviedo.
LIFE+ARCOS meets the General Directorate for Biodiversitiy, in Oviedo, to evaluate the extent of the actions foreseen in the Barayo site (Navia-Valdés, Asturias)
On the 14th of February, 2018, Life+ARCOS team met the Authorities for the management of Natura 2000 sites is Asturias to discuss the extent of the Action Plans to be developed in Barayo site. The meeting venue was the Edificio de Servicios Múltiples del Principado de Asturias in Oviedo and we directly met the people from the Servicio de Espacios Protegidos y Conservación de la Naturaleza, de la Dirección General de Biodiversidad. Among others, we discussed with the Regional Authorities, the elimination of pine trees in Barayo.
Life+ARCOS discuss the planned actions for restoring Barayo with Municipal representatives from Navia and Valdés and with the NGO Asociación de Amigos de Barayo
On 23rd November 2017, the Life+ARCOS team travelled to the town of Vigo in Navia, home to the Partial Natural Reserve of Barayo Interpretation Centre, to take part in an information session including the participation of various members of the Life+ARCOS project coordinating team belonging to the University of Oviedo.
The citizen science project “International cleanup of beaches” finds synergies with Life+ARCOS objectives with the aim of the project NACAR
Last 17th of November of 2017, a new volunteer day was developed within the Life+ARCOS framework. This time some novelties were introduced in the actions for recover the dune systems, including the cleaning of the beach following the methodological approach of Ocean Conservancy program.
There’s no much time less to begin the actions to restore the dune system in Barayo protected site (Navia-Valdés, Asturias)
Next 23th of November 2017, Life+ARCOS team will meet the Regional Authorities in charge of the management of site A1-Barayo to inform them about the actions planned for this protected site. Hopefully we will start the actions before the end of the year.
