On 18th of June 2018, the International Day for the Environment was celebrated. The Regional Government of Cantabria, through the General Directorate for the Environment (Rural means, Fisheries and Food Council) together with Life+AROCS organized a voluntary day to contribute to the elimination of Invasive Alien Species in the Liencres Natural Park.
Workshop on dune systems, summary 25th April , 2017. Organised by EUCC-Atlantique and LIFE ARCOS project
Summary of the first day of the Workshop organised by EUCC-Atlantique, with the collaboration of Life+ARCOS and Ecología Litoral S.L., centred on conserving the Cantabrian dune systems. The day involved a visit to the Liencres Dunes protected area, and to the Government of Cantabria Directorate General for Nature Conservation, with the presentation of various speakers and a fascinating open debate.
Restoration of dunes by cleaning wastes, invasive plant species and census of Chamaesyce peplis in Liencres (SAC of Liencres and Pas Estuary)
Volunteer activities were carried out in the site SCA Dunas de Liencres y Estuario del Pas. Along with the elimination of invasive species (Chamaesyce polygonifolia) and cleaning up of wastes, a census of the only existing population of the threatened species Euphorbia peplis was done.
Life+ARCOS meets some technicians from the Directorate General of Natural Environment of the Regional Government of Cantabria
On the 14th of August, Mr Jesús Varas, Director of the protected site Parque Natural de las Dunas de Liencres and Ms Lourdes Gozález, Director of the Parque Natural de las Maristmas de Santoña hold a meeting with technicians from the General Directorate for Enviromental affairs of the Government of Cantabria to keep them informed about the actions that are about to be developed in those protected sites.
On the 3rd of August, the Manager of the Natural Park Dunas de Liencres that belongs to the General Directorate of Environmental affairs of the Government of Cantabria, hold an information meeting with Ms Verónica Samperio, the new City Major of Piélagos. Mr Jesús Varas informed her about the objectives of the project with regard the restoration of the aforementioned protected site.
